About Program

The Java Microservices Training offered by myTectra is a hands-on, project-oriented program designed to help developers build scalable, resilient, and high-performing microservices applications using Java and Spring Boot.

The course covers microservices architecture principles, service discovery, API gateways, communication patterns, security, observability, and deployment on cloud-native environments using Docker and Kubernetes.

By combining theory with extensive practical labs, learners will gain the expertise needed to design, develop, and deploy microservices-based applications in real-world enterprise environments.

This training bridges the gap between traditional monolithic applications and modern distributed systems, making participants proficient in developing microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and supporting technologies such as Spring Cloud, REST APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Strong understanding of Core Java and OOPs concepts
  • Familiarity with Spring Framework or Spring Boot
  • Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and JSON
  • Knowledge of Maven/Gradle and Git (recommended)
  • (Optional) Familiarity with Docker or cloud basics is a plus

  • Understand microservices architecture and its advantages over monolithic systems.
  • Design, develop, and deploy Java-based microservices using Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
  • Implement inter-service communication via REST and message queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
  • Manage service discovery, API gateways, and centralized configuration.
  • Apply security, fault tolerance, and observability in distributed systems.
  • Containerize and deploy microservices using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Integrate CI/CD pipelines for automated build and deployment.
  • Build and deploy a real-world microservices project integrating all learned components.

Module 1: Introduction to Microservices Architecture

  • Understanding Monolithic vs. Microservices architecture
  • Key characteristics: scalability, autonomy, and resilience
  • Challenges in distributed systems
  • Principles of Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
  • Overview of Spring Boot and Spring Cloud for microservices

Lab: Create a simple Spring Boot application and expose a REST API

Module 2: Building RESTful Microservices with Spring Boot

  • Designing RESTful services using Spring Boot
  • Working with Spring Data JPA and databases
  • Implementing CRUD operations and exception handling
  • Versioning, validation, and documentation with Swagger/OpenAPI
  • Unit testing and integration testing microservices

Lab: Develop and test a standalone microservice using Spring Boot

Module 3: Service Discovery and Registration

  • Introduction to Spring Cloud Netflix Eureka
  • Setting up Eureka Server for service discovery
  • Registering and consuming services dynamically
  • Service instance health checks and monitoring

Lab: Implement Eureka-based service registry with multiple microservices

Module 4: API Gateway and Centralized Routing

  • Importance of API Gateways in microservices
  • Implementing Spring Cloud Gateway / Netflix Zuul
  • Centralized routing, load balancing, and filters
  • Handling cross-cutting concerns (logging, authentication) at the gateway

Lab: Configure and test API Gateway for routing multiple services

Module 5: Centralized Configuration Management

  • Managing configurations across microservices
  • Setting up Spring Cloud Config Server
  • Externalizing properties with Git or local file system
  • Refreshing configurations dynamically using Spring Actuator

Lab: Implement centralized configuration using Spring Cloud Config

Module 6: Inter-Service Communication

  • REST template vs. Feign Client for communication
  • Synchronous vs. Asynchronous communication
  • Introduction to Kafka / RabbitMQ for messaging
  • Event-driven microservices and message queues

Lab: Integrate two microservices using Feign Client and Kafka

Module 7: Security in Microservices

  • Securing microservices with Spring Security and OAuth 2.0
  • Implementing JWT-based authentication and authorization
  • API Gateway-level security and token validation
  • Role-based access control (RBAC)

Lab: Implement JWT-based authentication for secure microservices

Module 8: Fault Tolerance and Resilience

  • Understanding resilience patterns: Circuit Breaker, Retry, Fallback
  • Implementing Resilience4j / Hystrix
  • Monitoring health and metrics with Spring Boot Actuator
  • Graceful degradation and recovery

Lab: Implement a Circuit Breaker pattern using Resilience4j

Module 9: Observability and Monitoring

  • Centralized logging with ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
  • Distributed tracing using Spring Cloud Sleuth and Zipkin
  • Metrics and performance monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana
  • Debugging and analyzing distributed transactions

Lab: Configure distributed tracing and visualize with Zipkin

Module 10: Containerization with Docker

  • Introduction to Docker containers for microservices
  • Writing Dockerfiles and building images
  • Managing containers with Docker Compose
  • Microservices network configuration in Docker

Lab: Containerize a multi-service Spring Boot application

Module 11: Orchestration with Kubernetes (K8s)

  • Introduction to Kubernetes concepts: Pods, Deployments, Services, Ingress
  • Deploying microservices on Kubernetes cluster
  • ConfigMaps, Secrets, and Helm charts
  • Auto-scaling, rolling updates, and load balancing
